Glastonbury 2015: Foo Fighters' Replacement, Weather Forecast And The Secret Gigs - Here's Everything You Need To Know Before Going To The Music Festival

Here's Everything You Need To Know Before Heading To Glasto
|

We can’t believe it’s been a year since Dolly Parton brought a bit of sparkle to Worthy Farm, but it’s nearly time to get the wellies out, and dust off our camping gear for another weekend at Glastonbury.

By now, you should be pretty prepared if you'er heading down to Worthy Farm this year, but if you're anything like us, then you're still stood in the kitchen, over piles of clothes, hunting for the tent pegs.

With over 100 stages, across 1,200 acres, there’s certainly a lot going on, and even the most spontaneous of festival goers should do at least a little planning before setting off for Somerset.

Here’s everything you need to know before heading to this year’s festival…

Glastonbury listicle
1. When is Glastonbury? And how do I get a ticket? (01 of12)
Open Image Modal
If you’re asking these questions, then you’re a little late! This year’s Glastonbury officially kicks off on Thursday 25 June, though most festival-goers will arrive at Worthy Farm on Wednesday 24. All 180,000(!) of this year’s tickets have now been sold, so sadly, if you haven’t got one already, you’re going to have to wait until next time. (credit:Ian Gavan via Getty Images)
2. Where should I camp? (02 of12)
Open Image Modal
There are a whole host of options, which are all explained on the official website. Families should head to the Wicket Ground camping ground. Consider checking the stage breakdown and working out where you’ll spend the most time, and if you’re planning to dance until the small hours at Shangri-La, get to the festival early and nab a spot on Pennard Hill. 3. Who's replacing the Foo Fighters? (03 of12)
Open Image Modal
Following Dave Grohl's leg break, Florence Welch is stepping up to the plate, and headlining on Friday night. Organisers are yet to reveal who will be stepping in for her, and playing the support set. (credit:Barry Brecheisen/Invision/AP)
4. Who else is on the line-up? (04 of12)
Open Image Modal
There are over 100 different stages at Glastonbury, so not only are attendees spoiled for choice, but they’ll also often have to make tough choices about who to see and who to miss. Kanye West, Florence and The Who top this year’s bill, and other acts include everyone from FKA Twigs and Jamie XX to Mark Ronson and Kate Tempest. And then there’s the Sunday afternoon legend slot… (credit:Tabatha Fireman via Getty Images)
5. Who is the 2015 Sunday legend? (05 of12)
Open Image Modal
Lionel Richie. Dolly Parton is a seriously tough act to follow, and at last year’s Glasto she scored the festival’s biggest crowd ever. We reckon Lionel’s got what it takes though… (credit:Arthur Mola/Invision/AP)
6. Should I see Kanye West? (06 of12)
Open Image Modal
Yes. (credit:Charles Sykes/Invision/AP)
7. What is Shangri-La? (07 of12)
Open Image Modal
Well. Where do we start? The late-night area has a reputation for a reason, but it really does have to be seen to be believed. Perhaps inspired by this poster from last year’s event, the 2015 theme is ‘Schmolitics Politics’. Expect surprise DJ sets, hidden clubs and absinthe cocktails. (credit:Jim Dyson via Getty Images)
8. What will the weather be like? (08 of12)
Open Image Modal
The good news: Sunshine is expected for most of the weekend. The bad news? The remnants of a tropical storm could hit. Seriously. Just try not to end up like these two, yeah? (credit:Joel Ryan/Invision/AP)
9. What happens when the main stages close? (09 of12)
Open Image Modal
The music never really ends at Glasto, so you’ll never be far from a DJ set, secret area or night-long party. Have a wander up to the Beat Hotel, check out the Circus and Theatre field, or join the orderly queue for Shangri-La and the South-East corner. If you're still going at dawn, make your way up to the Stone Circle for sun rise. Yes, it's as cheesy and brilliant as it sounds. (credit:Matt Crossick/Matt Crossick)
10. Where is the secret underground piano bar? (10 of12)
Open Image Modal
It’s not called the *secret* piano bar for no reason, and Glasto’s ultimate secret spot moves every year, and to give you an idea of how tough it is to locate, last year, festival-goers were required to queue for what appeared to be a portaloo, that was actually a concealed tunnel. Permission to enter isn’t granted until a random forfeit has been carried out. (credit:Matt Cardy via Getty Images)
11. Where are the other secret areas? (11 of12)
Open Image Modal
Luckily, some of Glasto’s secret locations are slightly easier to find, and the once obscure Rabbit Hole, near The Park, is now pretty easy to get in to. It’s normally located near the ribbon tower, at the top of The Park. Once you’ve found it, answer a riddle from the madhatter, receive a special carrot, and crawl through a tunnel. See, easy peasy… (credit:Gary Wolstenholme via Getty Images)
12. Will there be any surprise sets? (12 of12)
Open Image Modal
Over the years, plenty of bands have made secret appearances at Worthy Farm, and in 2014, Metronomy played a warm-up set at William’s Green on the Thursday evening, while Mumford And Sons stopped by in the Avalon Field. William's Green traditionally plays host to a couple of secret gigs on Thursday nights, and this year, Bastille have hinted that they could be heading to the farm. (credit:Robb Cohen/Invision/AP)
