Roman Kemp Apologises For 'Offensive' Tweets Ahead Of Rumoured I'm A Celebrity Stint

The Capital presenter revealed on Instagram that he'd deleted a number of posts that "could cause offence".

Roman Kemp has apologised to fans after deleting a number of “offensive” tweets.

The Capital DJ – who is heavily rumoured to be heading Down Under next week for the new series of I’m A Celebrity – revealed on his Instagram Story that he’d decided to go through his old tweets to see the language he used to use on social media, and was “shocked” at what he found.

Although he didn’t disclose the exact content of the tweets in question, Roman said he was specifically looking for “anything that could cause harm or offence to someone”.

“Being totally honest, I’m shocked and appalled and ashamed to say I did find things,” Roman explained. “I did find things I’m not at all proud of. I don’t associate myself with that.

“I know the person who wrote those things is not the man I am now, but they were there.”

He continued: “I made the conscious decision to get those things, I have deleted those things, I don’t want that negativity in the world.

“I don’t want the legacy I have on the internet to be a place where there is negativity, or something that can cause offence. For anyone that has ever been offended by something I have said online, I am truly, deeply and utterly sorry.”

Roman concluded: “Going forward, I want to be that good social media user that spreads happiness about humans, not negativity. I hope that you watching this want to do the same. Together, let’s make the internet a bit of a better place.”

It’s understandable that Roman – the son of Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp and Wham! singer Shirlie Holliman – might be concerned about his past behaviour on social media before heading into the jungle.
