Bollywood Star Jailed For Five Years
|

Bollywood star Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years in jail, after being found guilty of culpable homicide, following a 2002 hit-and-run incident.

The actor killed a homeless man in the crash, and while he initially claimed his driver was behind the wheel, a judge stated that Salman was, adding that he was under the influence of alcohol, reports the BBC.

The actor had been in court for a matter of minutes on Wednesday morning, when the judge declared that he was guilty, adds the BBC.

The hit-and-run took place over 10 years ago, when Salman’s car hit a bakery in Mumbai, and the case has been in the spotlight in India ever since, thanks to Salman’s high profile.

According to legal experts, Salman is likely to appeal the decision.

The star is due to appear in a number of upcoming Bollywood projects, however, their future is now in doubt.
