Susanna Reid Hits Back At Claims She's 'Complicit' In Piers Morgan's Controversial Views Being Aired

The Good Morning Britain presenter insisted she "spends her mornings challenging" her co-host.

Susanna Reid has responded to critics who suggest she doesn’t challenge Piers Morgan’s views enough on Good Morning Britain.

Since she was joined by Piers on the ITV breakfast show, Susanna has repeatedly faced both praise and criticism for the way she handles her co-presenter’s controversial views.

This week, Susanna responded to one such critic on Twitter, who wrote that she “smiles away” while Piers “spouts bigotry and ignorance”.

“She’s utterly complicit,” they wrote. “People who don’t challenge morally unjust views in a public forum with a wide audience should be held accountable too.”

Hitting back, Susanna wrote: “I spend my mornings challenging the views of Piers Morgan. I spend the rest of the day being told *checks notes* I don’t challenge him.”

She added that it’s “your choice not to watch the programme” but people should “at least have an informed view” before they criticise her.

“My skin just gets thicker by the second. Half my critics think I should leave MY paid employment because THEY take issue with the person sitting next to me,” she fumed.

“The other half think I should leave, BECAUSE I take issue with the person sitting next to me. I’m staying right where I am.”

Piers was recently the subject of a petition calling for him to be axed from Good Morning Britain, specifically relating to his views around gender identity.

This led the show to post a playful poll asking viewers whether they thought Piers should retain his job, only for the results to be just 41% in his favour.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
