They went on to work together on various projects, with Julie appearing in Victoria's 1980s sketch show 'As Seen On TV', and a 2005 stage version of 'Acorn Antiques', which was penned by the late entertainer.

They also won a joint British Comedy Award in 2005 for Outstanding Achievement.

Julie and Victoria were last seen on screen together in 2009 in BBC festive special, 'Victoria Wood's Mid Life Christmas'.

The world of comedy also came out to mourn Victoria on Twitter, on Wednesday.

The announcement of Victoria’s death was followed by a post on her own Twitter page, which thanked well-wishers for their support, before adding a famous quote from Victoria herself: “Life’s not fair is it? Some of us drink champagne in the fast lane, and some of us eat our sandwiches by the loose chippings on the A597.”
