Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams have been ordered to pay Marvin Gaye’s family $7.4 million (£4.8 million), following a copyright infringement lawsuit.

A jury has officially decided that the pair’s 2013 hit ‘Blurred Lines’ was too closely similar to the R&B’s legend’s track ‘Got To Give It Up’ - but just how similar do they sound?

While Pharrell contended that he was only trying to mimic the “feel” of Gaye’s track, eight jurors decided otherwise, though the songwriters may try to appeal the decision.

A number of Robin and Pharrell's fans and critics have shared their thoughts on Twitter since the ruling, with many discussing how it could affect the music business.

Marvin's daughter Nona spoke outside the LA court following the ruling, stating: "Right now I feel free from Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke's chains, and what they tried to keep on us and the lies that were told."
