Michael Le Vell's 'Coronation Street' Contract 'Renewed For Another 12 Months' After Revealing He's Been Sober For Six Months

'He Is Delighted His Role Is Secure For Another 12 Months'

Coronation Street’ actor Michael Le Vell is reportedly “delighted” at the news that soap bosses have renewed his contract for another 12 months.

The actor recently returned to the ITV series - where he has been playing car mechanic Kevin Webster since 1983 - following a stint in rehab, after admitting to suffering from drug and alcohol issues.

However, he’s now rightfully back where he belongs on the ‘Corrie’ cobbles, and now looks set to stay for at least another year.

“He just wants to get his head down and do what he does best - being Kevin Webster, the nation’s favourite mechanic.

“Like many of the stars, Michael is on a rolling 12-month deal, which means his future in the show is only guaranteed for a year at a time. He is delighted his role is secure until at least November 2015.”

It’s been a difficult few years for Michael, who was found not guilty of sex offences back in September 2013, but later admitted to having taken cocaine for the first time while he was at his lowest ebb during the trials.

However, he’s now turned things around and things are going great for Michael, which friends have attributed to his new-found happiness in his new relationship.

He even recently revealed on his official Facebook page that he was celebrating six months without drinking - we're pleased to hear that the good news appears to just keep on coming for the long-running 'Corrie' actor.
