Rob Lowe Backtracks On Prince William Balding Comments

“He’s a stud, I love him. He’s awesome.”

Rob Lowe has sought to clarify his recent comments about Prince William’s balding, after facing a backlash.

The US actor sparked controversy when he said watching the Duke Of Cambridge’s lose his hair was “traumatic”, before jokingly shaming him for not trying to fix it.

Following the furore, Rob was asked about his comments during an interview on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, which is when he claimed he was actually trying to be self-deprecating.

He told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: “That says more about me than him.

“My point was here’s a guy who is fully comfortable in his own skin, then on the other side of the coin you have me, I can’t even watch another guy go bald without being even more narcissistic and wanting to plug in the [hair loss drug] propecia into a drip into my own... This is my thing.

“I saw the hubbub it caused on your side of the pond, I think it’s a case of two countries divided by a common language. Because that was literally me slagging my own insecurity and narcissism.

He added: “He’s a stud, I love him. He’s awesome.”

Rob’s original comments featured in an interview with The Telegraph, when he was asked if he considered himself more or less vain than British men.

The Parks And Recreation actor replied: “That’s a low bar. Can we talk about William?

“I mean, the future king of your country let himself lose his hair! So when I say British men set a very low bar...

“Honestly, one of the great traumatic experiences of my life was watching Prince William lose his hair. He’s going to be the fucking king of England!”

Rob added that when he first experienced hair loss, he did everything in his power to fix it.

“There’s a pill!” he said. “The first glimmer that a single hair of mine was going to fall out, I was having that stuff mainlined into my fucking veins. And that’s what I did for the next 30 years.”
