Sam Smith And Cheryl Bring The Glamour On The Attitude Awards Red Carpet

Also serving looks were Joan Collins and stars from RuPaul's Drag Race.

Cheryl Tweedy and Sam Smith were among the stars who served the glamour at this year’s Attitude Awards.

The annual ceremony celebrates the contributions of stars from the LGBTQ and allies over the last year, with Cheryl presenting the Attitude Breakthrough Award to chart-topping singer Ava Max.

Making her way into the event, the former Girls Aloud star posed for photographers in a sparkling gold dress and knee-high boots.

Another of the night’s winners was Sam Smith, who was awarded Person Of The Year, and picked up their award in a lacy green kimono.

Sam received the honour for having taken a new direction in their music career – delivering collaborations with Normani and Calvin Harris, as well as the solo hit How Do You Sleep? – as well as raising awareness of issues surrounding gender and sexuality.

In honour of the occasion, they wrote a piece for Attitude in which they detail how coming out as non-binary has helped them feel more “confident and happy”.

“As each day went on, slowly and surely, my suits started to feel like straitjackets and my head started to feel more and more like a prison,” they wrote, referring to the early years of their music career.

“It was time for me to set myself free once again… I stood up and I thought: ’Fuck this. It is time. I don’t care if I never sell another record. I can’t do this any more. I miss feeling completely free to be myself.”

Also among the winners was Dame Joan Collins, who was the recipient of the Icon Award, and fully delivered with her red carpet look, as is to be expected from the Hollywood star.

Meanwhile, Drag Race finalist Peppermint received the Inspiration Award, and was one of many drag stars who pulled out the stops on the red carpet.
