Adele has denied she snubbed the Band Aid 30 recording after Bob Geldof claimed she wasn't 'answering her phone'.

A spokesperson for the 'Someone Like You' singer - who was announced as part of the initial line-up - says she chose to support the Ebola appeal with a donation, instead.

When Adele was a no-show for the recording of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' in London over the weekend, Bob Geldof told the Sun the singer 'didn't want to be bothered by anyone'.

“Some people just don’t want to do it,” he told the paper. “Adele is doing nothing, she’s not answering the phone.

"She’s not writing. She’s not recording. She doesn’t want to be bothered by anyone. She won’t pick up the phone to her manager. She’s bringing up a family, you know.”

Following the comments, a spokesperson for Adele maintained that the singer should never have been listed as a participant in the project.

“Bob and the organisers spoke directly with [Adele’s] management but at no point was she confirmed,” they said.

The video for the new recording of the charity single aired during Sunday night's 'X Factor' results show.

The star-studded Band Aid 30 line-up includes One Direction, Sam Smith, Paloma Faith, Chris Martin, Bono, Elbow, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sandé, Angelique Kidjo, Ellie Goulding, Clean Bandit, Jessie Ware and Seal.

Introducing the video premiere, Bob G confirmed that the government would be waiving the VAT on the single, so that more money could go direct to the Ebola fund.

Bob added, "iTunes are giving us 100%. This isn't about me, it's not about them, for the first time it's about us. It could be a British thing.

"At 8am, X Factor nation, we're going to war, we're going to stop this."
