He says his Auschwitz "slip of the tongue" was followed by a distasteful Hitler impression.

Ejected ‘Big Brother’ housemate Lewis Flanagan has spoken out about his removal from the house for the first time, confirming the reason he was shown the door.

Lewis was kicked out via the back door last week, which he put down to a “slip of the tongue” in a conversation with producers in the Diary Room.

While ‘Big Brother’ fans were initially disappointed that the scenes involving his removal were ultimately not shown, Lewis has now revealed what led to his ejection in an interview with The Sun.

Confirming reports that he inadvertently said the word “Auschwitz” when he’d meant to say “outfits”, Lewis told the newspaper that this was followed by a mocking impression of Adolf Hitler, in which he said “kill the Jews”.

He told the newspaper: “It was a slip of the tongue and then I tried to mock Hitler and did an impression of him saying ‘Kill the Jews’.“

“It was an impression not a statement of my beliefs at all - and has come out completely wrong and I’m devastated.”

Lewis added: “I am not anti-Semitic, I am agnostic. I love all people. It was a misguided comment that came out wrong.”

A ‘Big Brother’ spokesperson declined to comment when contacted by HuffPost UK.

After being told that he was being removed from the house, Lewis said in the Diary Room: “I’m not ashamed because I didn’t try to offend anyone - it was a slip of the tongue.

“Unfortunately for me my bad language and misuse of certain phrases and certain words has exploded in my face.”

Lewis is the second of this year’s ‘Big Brother’ housemates to be ejected, following Ellis Hill’s removal when historic tweets of hers were discovered in which she used racist language.

‘Big Brother’ - now in its final series - airs nightly on Channel 5.
