'Love Actually' star Bill Nighy will take the role of Sergeant Wilson, originally played by John Le Mesurier, while 'Singing Detective' actor Michael Gambon, will play Private Godfrey.

The original cast of 'Dad's Army'
CZJ will play Rose, a glamorous journalist who is sent to report on the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard before MI5 discovers that there is a German spy in the fictional British town.
Toby Jones, whose film credits include 'Harry Potter', 'The Hunger Games' and 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy', will play the bespectacled Captain Mainwarin.

Other stars who have signed up to appear in the film include Sarah Lancashire ('Happy Valley'), Sir Tom Courtenay ('Doctor Zhivago'), Blake Harrison ('The Inbetweeners') and Danny Mays ('Mrs. Biggs').
The original sitcom, which ran for nine series between 1968 and 1977, followed a hapless World War II Home Guard platoon.
The film begins shooting later this month in Yorkshire with director Oliver Parker ('Johnny English Reborn', 'St Trinian's', 'Othello') at the helm.
The script is being written by Hamish McColl, who also wrote 'Mr Bean's Holiday' and 'Johnny English Reborn'.

It may be 10 years since Phoebe, Monica, Rachel, Chandler, Joey and Ross sunk their last coffee at Central Perk, but barely a day goes by without talk of a 'Friends' reunion. While many fans are desperate for it to happen, we have a feeling that watching the six-some as a bunch of middle-age parents rather than a group of single twenty-somethings, wouldn't recapture the glory days of the show's original run. Now don't get us wrong sweeties, we adored watching Patsy and Edina swig endless bottles of bolly during the first five series of the BBC comedy, but the less said about the three specials that aired in 2011 and 2012, the better. Despite regular runs of the series finishing back in 2000, Caroline Aherne continued to wheel out the sofa-bound family for umpteenth Christmas specials, as the Royles slowly became a parody of themselves. However, viewers were given a reprieve last Christmas, and in a post 'Gogglebox' world - which provides far more belly laughs with its own look into Britain's living rooms - now seems the perfect time to let Jim retire to his armchair for good.
