Danniella Westbrook Admits To Cocaine Relapse Live On 'This Morning'

She also revealed she attempted suicide after her boyfriend left her.

Danniella Westbrook has admitted she did suffer a drugs relapse, after splitting from her boyfriend.

The former ‘EastEnders’ actress revealed she took cocaine after George Arnold walked out on her last month, as she battled depression.

Danniella has been struggling with her mental health in recent months, having also been battling septicemia, which was caused by rogue dental work.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on Tuesday’s (15 November) edition of ‘This Morning’, the recovering addict said she was left on the edge after George called things off.

“Yeah I did relapse,” she admitted. “I thought my whole world was over when he walked out, because he just got up, it was like he’d never been there.”

Danniella went on to admit she’d attempted suicide, saying: “I tried to overdose a lot when George walked out, but it just turns out he never had a girlfriend before me, so it all unravels and you know it was very difficult.”

Addressing the effect it had on her children: “When you relapse and you take drugs, you don’t see that [effect on your kids], all you see is selfishness and a way out. So you carry on taking more drugs and you get to that point when you’re so low and you’re on such a come-down that you’re like ‘I just want to kill myself’ and it’s the most selfish, horrible thing and that’s drugs.”

Speaking about how her life has spiralled since having botched dental implants, Danniella said: “I had all my top teeth out and implants put in on screws. It started to swell and it gave me septicemia that went in through here in the roof of the mouth, all the gum here is gone.

“I think the whole lot of it spiralled me into depression, coming out of ‘Big Brother’ should have been my busiest year. I came out of there and I was so excited to get back on my feet and busy and people got to know who I was, which was nice, and this happened [pointing at her mouth] and I haven’t been able to work all year, which has just spiralled me back down into a depression.”

Danniella was previously forced to deny rumours of a relapse, when she was pictured with a plaster under her nose, which led some fans to believe her septum had collapsed again.

However, she insisted the plaster was due to her septicemia - something which she reiterated during her ‘This Morning’ appearance.

Danniella had been clean for the past two years, after returning to rehab in 2014, when she relapsed.

Prior to that, she had not used cocaine in a decade, after her severe addiction eventually led to her losing her role as Sam Mitchell in ‘EastEnders’ in 2000.

She reprised her soap role for Peggy Mitchell’s funeral earlier this year, after making it to the final of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in January.

This Morning’ airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.

'Celebrity Big Brother': Where Are They Now?
Preston(01 of24)

He and fellow 'CBB' star Chantelle had a short-lived time as the nation's sweethearts, before ultimately splitting. But not before embarrassing himself on national TV when he stormed off the 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' panel, after Simon Amstell poked fun at Chantelle. Awks. Bizarrely, a song written by Preston - 'Dressed To Kill' - recently cropped up on Cher's latest album. Yes, Cher. Actual. Cher, and in 2016, he appeared on Channel 4's 'First Dates'. After showing her boobs in the 'CBB' jacuzzi, Denise revisited her love of acting and toured the UK in a production of 'Steel Magnolias'. She's also popped up in 'EastEnders' as Alison Slater and starred on sitcom 'Boy Meets Girl'. She has also quit 'Loose Women', stopped drinking and married her new love, Licoln Townley. Forgot Sue had been on 'Celebrity Big Brother', had you? Of course, she's now best known for co-presenting 'The Great British Bake Off', cramming in as many 'soggy bottom' innuendos into an hour-long show as is humanly possible. (credit:Ian West/PA Wire)

Alex married - and then divorced - Katie Price soon after leaving the 'Big Brother' house. He then had a relationship with fellow 'CBB' alum Chantelle Houghton, and the pair have a daughter together. Alex is still a big name in the go-go world of cage fighting, but has also tried his luck as an actor, starring in the Oscar-worthy 'Killer Bitch' as well as playing a stripper in 'Wildboyz', alongside 'BB' housemate Dale Howard and former 'Corrie' hunk, Danny Young. Owner of the most famous teeth in Britain, Rylan used his 'CBB' stint to his advantage and is now seen fronting the spin-off series 'Big Brother's Bit On The Side'. He probably wouldn't like you to mention it, but Mark won the second ever series of 'Celebrity Big Brother', beating Melinda Messenger to the title. He had a short-lived crack at a solo career (we maintain that his single '4 Minute Warning' was a 10/10 pop gem no matter what anyone else says) after his eviction, and is now back with Take That. Proving there's nothing that Britain loves more than a woman in her 20s wetting the bed, Charlotte landed her own TLC reality series after winning 'CBB'. She has also been a big fitness star, launching her own DVD and cookbook. With the ever-growing list of names on his bum getting longer than our typical Nando's order - and that's saying something - Frankie tried to launch his music career after leaving 'CBB', but his debut single 'She's Got A Motorocycle' (which we can only guess told the story of someone - presumably a woman - who had a motorcycle in their possession) peaked at no. 89. Which incidentally is the same number of names he now has inked on his derriere... (credit:Rex)

One of the most memorable - for all the wrong reasons - moments in 'CBB' history came from Vanessa Feltz, who took part in the 2013 series of 'Strictly Come Dancing', becoming the second celeb to dance away from the competition. After leaving 'CBB', Mutya rang up her old mates - the original Sugababes, Keisha and Siobhan - and decided to give the old pop career another try, forming the imaginatively titled pop group, Mutya Keisha Siobhan. We've heard nothing from them since their debut single 'Flatline', but we're not giving up hope that they can still deliver a great pop album. At some point. In the next decade. (credit:Rex)

'Celebrity Big Brother' catapulted Jasmine from the Z-list to... well... slightly higher up the Z-list. She is best known for her notable Twitter feuds, including with fellow 'CBB' contestant, Luisa Zissman. She also popped up in the 2015 civilian series of 'Big Brother' as part of the 'Timebomb' twist, and she quickly formed a relationship with housemate Christian MJC.
