Denise Van Outen has claimed that she’s found herself with fewer and fewer offers for TV presenting jobs as she gets older.

The West End actress became a household name in the 1990s thanks to her presenting gigs on shows like ‘The Big Breakfast’ and the, admittedly, slightly less well-received ‘Something For The Weekend’.

However, while she did recently join the cast of ‘EastEnders’ for a brief role in the soap, Denise has revealed that presenting offers have all but dried up now she’s in her 40s.

One presenting job Denise was offered, though, was on the ‘Loose Women’ panel, though she says she felt uncomfortable accepting it because she would have to talk about her personal life.

“It wouldn’t feel respectful to talk about him and our daughter on national TV.”

Luckily it doesn’t sound like Denise, who was also a runner-up on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, particularly misses fronting TV shows, insisting: “I’d rather be acting now. My roots are East End. I’ve always said I’d one day do it.”

Denise has previously spoken about how much she’s enjoying her time on ‘EastEnders’, saying of her soap character: “She is really fun and she is a bit naughty - surprise surprise.”

Her character, Karin Smart, has already shaken things up in Albert Square, and it didn’t take long before she was getting up close and personal with Max Branning...
