‘EastEnders’ fans should brace themselves, as a new trailer for the soap suggests they are in for an explosive few weeks.

The action-packed advert - released on Thursday (11 May) - teases plenty of upcoming storylines, and is so exciting that we’ve had to break it down just to get our heads around it.

Here’s what to expect in Walford this spring...

1. Jack Branning is arrested for assaulting Charlie Cotton

It seems their battle over Charlie’s son with Jack’s late wife Ronnie is about to get nasty, which leads to...

2. Jack contemplates doing a runner with Matthew and the kids

BBC

Will Max pull off his plan to ruin his brother’s life? Speaking of which...

3. Max Branning’s plot to destroy Walford gathers pace

BBC

His mystery business partner is seen turning up on the Square while on the phone to someone, telling them: “So much paranoia. Nobody round here knows who I am.” Hmmm, just who is he?

4. Mick Carter’s back, and he’s onto Max

BBC

He is less than happy about the role Max played in getting Shirley to sign over the freehold of the Vic, telling him: “You’re a snake. Stay away from me.”

5. Tensions run high between Mick and Shirley

He seriously loses his cool with his mother, but then again, she did sell off his business without even consulting him.

6. Will Mick cheat with Whitney?

11. Cora Cross is back

Denise bumps into Tanya’s mum, who was last seen in 2015, having spent time living on the streets. But her life is now back on track, and she wants to help Denise do the same.

12. There’s some new faces in Walford

BBC

Ted and Joyce Murray arrive in Albert Square, having spent years living in the tower blocks over-looking E20. But it appears they have some history with another new family in Walford...

13. The Taylors arrive

Ted and Joyce are heard saying “it’s them”, as they spot new resident Karen Taylor brawling in the street.

It has only just been announced a new family will be joining the soap, but it looks like bosses were not joking when they said they would be trouble...

14. Stacey Fowler clashes with Karen

”I’ll hit you so hard you won’t be able to get up,” our Stace screams in the street. Not exactly a warm welcome to the neighbourhood, but we have to admit, we’ve missed feisty Stacey.

15. Bex is pregnant!

Nuisance neighbours won’t be the only thing Stacey and Martin Fowler will have to worry about, as Bex is about to find out she is pregnant. But who is the father?

16. Josh continues his pursuit of Lauren Branning

Who knew that body was under that tweed jacket?

17. But is Steven Beale on to them?

His suspicions about the pair are raised, and he starts tracking Lauren’s movements, as well as inviting Josh round for the most awkward dinner party ever. But his desire to keep Lauren begins to get to him...

18. Steven starts to unravel

We know Steven has struggled with his mental health in the past, but since returning to Walford last year, he seemed to have turned a corner.

However, things look set to get much darker for the character, who is not only continuing to put holes in condoms in an attempt to get Lauren pregnant, but is also heard admitting he is worried as he “know’s what he is capable of”. Someone may want to warn Abi Branning as...

19. Steven attacks Abi

We’re not sure how or why, but he’s seen throwing her against a wall in the restaurant kitchen.

20. Is Yolande Truman back for Patrick?

BBC

While we saw Yolande return for a small appearance earlier this year as one of the bosses at Minute Mart’s HQ in Birmingham, Patrick Truman’s ex wife will soon rock up in Walford. What will this mean for the former couple?

21. Robbie Jackson also returns

Sadly, there’s no Wellard in sight, but there is another Jackson back on the Square too...

22. SONIA!

BBC

She made a brief return last month as part of Bex’s bullying storyline, but Sonia looks set to make a full-time return to the Square, as actress Natalie Cassidy returns from maternity leave.

23. Is this the ‘Ender the line for Dot?

The Walford legend is seen collapsing in her kitchen - will she be ok?

EastEnders: Where Are They Now?

Jo Joyner (01 of45)

Played: Tanya Branning 2006-2010

What. A. Woman.

Jo's character, Tanya, went to hell and back as Max's long-suffering wife, but the upsides were there, and Jo scooped loads of awards and even more fans during her time on the soap.

Jo returned to the Square for the soap's 30th anniversary, but in 2014, she was busy starring in the lead role of the comedy 'Trying Again'.

Remember the time Martin helped plan a wedding as part of a reality TV show? What a glorious day that was.

Robert Kazinsky(03 of45)

Played: Sean Slater (2006–09)

Robert Kazinsky had a good few years out of the limelight after quitting the Square in 2009.

Tamzin Outhwaite(05 of45)

Played: Melanie Owen (1998–2002)

After leaving 'EastEnders', shortly after the departure of her on-screen hubby Martin Kemp, Tamzin Outhwaite went on to star in a number of shows, including 'Red Cap', 'Hustle', 'Final Demand', 'Walk Away' and 'Frances Tuesday'.

Danniella Westbrook(06 of45)

Played: Sam Mitchell (1990–2000, 2009–10, 2016)

Danniella Westbrook was reportedly written out of 'EastEnders' as Sam Mitchell when her cocaine addiction affected her commitment.

She later released an autobiography about her troubles 'The Other Side of Nowhere', in 2006. Things haven't been easy for Daniella in recent years, and in 2014 she admitted to relapsing. Played: Ricky Butcher (1988–2000, 2002–04, 2008–12)

He's been snapped at Cannes Film Festival, photo-bombing Chris Brown and hanging out with Adele since leaving Walford. Yes, Ricky Butcher has gone up in the world.

Martine McCutcheon(13 of45)

Played: Tiffany Mitchell (1995–98)

Soon after Tiff was killed off, Martine started a solo pop career and her debut single 'Perfect Moment' was an international success. Martine's also been a hit on the West End stage, scooping an Olivier Award for 'My Fair Lady' and she also impressed in the film world, with her role in 'Love, Actually'.

Nowadays, there's more chance that you'll find Nigel on stage and he's the proud owner of an Olivier Award, presented for his role in 'Shrek the Musical'.

Best known for playing the emotionally battered, alcoholic landlady, Anita Dobson went on to voicing a character in kids' show 'Annette And Rod' as well as appearing in 'Sadie J', another children's programme, as Nan Bet. Played: Rainie Cross (2007-2011)

After getting Phil Mitchell hooked on crack as character Rainie Cross, Tanya moved on to more drama, playing Richard Burton's wife, Sybil, in the 2012 made-for-television film 'Liz & Dick', alongside Lindsay Lohan and later starring in 'Broadchurch'.

Ross Kemp(19 of45)

Played: Grant Mitchell (1990–99, 2005, 2006, 2016)

Ross Kemp went from 'EastEnders' bad boy to chasing bad boys when he left the soap in 2006.

Rebranding himself as an investigative journalist, Kemp has reported on gangs, Afghanistan, pirates, the Middle East and more. In 2012 he released a new novel, 'Moving Target'. He went on to experience what it’s like to be caught up in the middle of Northern Ireland’s most contentious and volatile Twelfth parade for the new series of his Sky1 show 'Extreme World'.

Michelle Collins really did a number on Ian Beale as scheming Cindy, eventually having him shot by a hitman. Michelle swapped soaps and played barmaid Stella Price in 'Coronation Street'. Kara Tointon went on to win the 2010 edition of' Strictly Come Dancing' with her partner-turned-boyfriend Artem Chigvintsev, though the couple have since split. She then starred in 'Mr Selfridge' alongside her sister Hannah and also played the lead role in a live ITV production of 'The Sound Of Music' before landing a role in the channel's much-hyped 2017 drama 'The Halycon'. After 6 years as the loveable and the long-suffering Little Mo, Kacey went on to play Auntie Lou in 'Carrie's War' in London's West End and in 2013, she stared in Ben Elton's the comedy series 'The Wright Way'.
