‘Gogglebox’ Star Chris Steed Unveils A Head Full Of Brand New Locks Following £10K Hair Transplant

'I feel 10 years younger'.

Gogglebox’ star Chris Steed has unveiled a whole new look after undergoing a £10,000 hair transplant.

The 40-year-old hairdresser has a full head of new locks following the procedure, which he says has made him feel “10 years younger”.

Chris, who appears on the Channel 4 show with his best mate Stephen Webb, had 2,000 hair grafts transplanted into his balding crown.

Chris said: “I am so pleased with the results and I do feel 10 years younger.

“I started losing my hair at a very early age and would be as bald as a coot now, just like my dad, if I had not received this help.

“As a hairdresser, I am acutely aware of the importance of having great hair and looking good and I am so pleased that the technology is there to make a real difference to the lives of men who are losing their hair. It can be heart-breaking and shatter your self-esteem.”

Chris started losing his hair at the age of 18 and used to wear wigs in the past but stopped because he was damaging his remaining hair by gluing the hairpieces to his scalp.

He added: “It was fun wearing the wigs for a time because they looked amazing but they are not a long-term solution.

“You damage your hair gluing them on and they can have embarrassing consequences and come off at the wrong times! I can remember one man almost getting the surprise of his life when it almost came off in his hand.”

Chris revealed that some concerned ‘Gogglebox’ fans contacted him on Twitter asking if he was ill because of his shaved head.

He explained: “I had it during a break in filming Gogglebox just after Christmas and then returned to the last series with my head shaved where they had taken the donor hair for the procedure. I was wearing a baseball cap to cover it up while my hair grew back.

“I had messages on Twitter from fans asking if he had cancer because I was wearing the cap - they thought I might have lost my hair through chemotherapy!

“Well, the truth is that I have had a hair transplant and I am very happy to make that clear. I have posed up now for pictures because all the lovely new hair has grown back.”

Dr Shahmalak, who carried out the procedure at Manchester’s Crown Clinic, said: “Hair transplants have never been more popular - particularly amongst celebrities who need to look good to stay in the public eye. You can completely change your appearance for the same cost as upgrading your car.”

Chris said he decided to go ahead with his hair transplant ahead of his nuptials to his fiancé, Tony Butland.

He said: “I am so excited about the wedding, it is going to be the happiest day of my life. I am thrilled that my hair will be looking good in the wedding pictures.”

The list of things that John Travolta isn't admitting to seems to grow longer by the day.We don't give a fig about his sexuality, but we do find it rather surprising that he won't 'fess up to having had a bit of a helping hand with his hair - because for years he's been regarded as having the least-convincing hairline in Hollywood. If only they were making Lego: The Movie he'd be a dead cert for the lead role. (credit: PA)

The U2 frontman was clearly thinning by the late '80s, but throughout the '90s and '00s his hair seemed to move in Mysterious Ways - increasing in density as it decreased in length. He obviously takes Pride (in the name of) his hair though, so we'll draw a (hair) line under the matter right here. First we want to make it clear that the density of Dec's hair is something we'd never even considered until it was brought to our attention. But once we were made aware of an alleged increase in bushiness, we had to admit that something fishy did appear to be going on.Now we're not saying he's definitely had a transplant (and he's certainly keeping mum), but have a look at these pics and see what you reckon. The artist formerly known as Reg Dwight started to lose his hair way back in the 1970s, and was one of the first celebs to undergo a hair transplant. The change was so dramatic - and he was so mega-famous back then - that he had to be honest about having had it done.We don't know how much work he's had done up there since, but he's got more hair than Marge Simpson these days. Has he or hasn't he? That is the question when it comes to the talented Mr Law. Jude is famous for his sneaky mini-combover, as shown in the right hand picture - but there have been persistent rumours that he's also had a transplant. He's never spoken out about it, and definitive evidence is hard to come by - so for now it will have to remain a mystery, my dear Watson. Comedian Rob Brydon is another famous face who appears to have had a bit of re-thatching carried out on his rooftop. The Welshman hasn't explicitly confirmed that he's had a transplant, but did say: "For some time now my head has been feeling a lot warmer but I was unable to put my finger on the reason why." He might not be able to, but it looks like one of his co-stars isn't having any problems doing so in the right-hand photo here. (credit: PA)

The man who used to play Barry Evans in EastEnders has never even tried to pretend that his hair grew back overnight - which is just as well because nobody would have believed him. He even told Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant about the op, so they could use it to mock him when he appeared in Extras (although the gags got cut). (credit: PA)
