Ferne had her arms, legs and head placed in different perspex boxes, which were all filled up with all manner of critters and creatures.

But she really lost it when some cockroaches joined her in the box placed over her head, prompting giggles from fellow contestant Spencer Matthews and hosts Ant and Dec.

However, it turns out that Ferne’s fear of snakes comes from her childhood, after she was bitten by one as a child.

Ferne has a phobia of snakes

She told The Mirror before entering the jungle as a latecomer alongside ‘Made In Chelsea’ star Spencer and Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattison: "I’m actually scared of the usual stuff like snakes and spiders and stuff.

"When I was younger, about eight, a snake bit me. My cousin randomly had one as a pet and I probably shouldn’t have been putting my hand in the glass container thing and it just went for me.

"They’re like a substantial animal aren’t they? It’s not like the bugs and critters."

‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.

More TV gold was created when Princess Diana's former butler Paul Burrell took part in the Hell Hole challenge in 2004.
