'Midsomer Murders' Barnaby Gets A New Sidekick, A Familiar TV Face

'Midsomer Murders' is about to film its 19th series.

'Midsomer Murders' crimesolver-in-chief DCI John Barnaby will have a new sergeant at his side for the next series, and keen-eyed viewers will recognise a familiar face.

Filming starts this week, with actor Neil Dudgeon joined by Nick Hendrix as DS Jamie Winter. Nick is currently on screen in ITV thriller 'Marcella', and will also be appearing in forthcoming big-budget Netflix drama 'The Crown'.

Nick says: "I'm genuinely thrilled to join this bastion of British TV. It's a real privilege to be part of a hugely successful and much loved show and I am looking forward to stepping into the wonderful world of Midsomer."

Also returning for the 19th series of the successful drama are Manjinder Virk as pathologist Dr Kam Karimore and Fiona Dolman as Sarah Barnaby.

Six feature-length episodes will be on screen in 2017, when storylines will include a deserted village full of secrets, an extreme Neighbourhood Watch, a cricket festival and a rabbit and guinea pig show.

Jo Wright, executive producer, said: "All the team here at Bentley feel it's a great privilege to be filming the latest series of Midsomer Murders,  and especially to welcome the talented Nick Hendrix to the family.  We are sure he will help Neil Dudgeon keep as many people as possible safe on the dangerous streets of Midsomer County. "

'Midsomer' continues to be one of the jewels in ITV's crown, with audiences averaging at above six million for each episode, and the series sold all over the world to 220 territories.

[Speaking into tape recorder] "Diane, it struck me again earlier this morning, there are two things that continue to trouble me. And I'm speaking now not only as an agent of the Bureau but also as a human being. What really went on between Marilyn Monroe and the Kennedys and who really pulled the trigger on JFK?"

"I have lived with a fragile faith built on vague memories from an experience that I could neither prove nor explain. When I was 12, my sister was taken from me, taken from our home by a force that I came to believe was extraterrestrial. This belief sustained me, fueling a quest for truths that were as elusive as the memory itself. To believe as passionately as I did was not without sacrifice, but I always accepted the risks -- to my career, my reputation, my relationships, to life itself."

Shinning up s*** and calling it gold, so that Majors become Colonels and Mayors become Governors; pretending to do police work while the next generation ****ing trains the next how not to do the job."
