Russell Brand To Host 2012 MTV Movie Awards, Star Says It Will Be Better Than 'The Avengers'

Russell's Next Job 'More Impressive Than The Avengers'

Russell Brand will host this year's MTV Movie Awards, and the comedian has promised his return to the MTV stage will be "more impressive than The Avengers".

That's a hard promise to live up to - The Avenegers is currently top of the Box Office in both the UK and America and a sequel has just been green-lit - however, Brand has got experience hosting MTV gigs.

He last presented gongs at their Video Music Awards in 2008 and 2009. Now his career appears to be going ever further down the film route - he's bagged a lead role in Rock Of Ages alongside Tom Cruise - it's only fitting that he moves over to the Movie Awards.

MTV will be hoping he'll crack plenty of hilarious-but-not-too-offensive-jokes at their ceremony and it looks like Brands already warming up...

"This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than 'The Avengers' and you won't have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out."

The top contenders at the 21st annual MTV Movie Awards are The Hunger Games and Bridesmaids, which have eight nominations each, including bids for best cast, breakthrough performance and movie of the year.

The Awards will take place June 3 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif., and broadcast live on MTV.
