'Strictly Come Dancing': Arlene Phillips Wants Four Female Judges On The Panel (VIDEO)

'There Should Be Four Women On 'Strictly' Panel'

Arlene Phillips has revealed that she’d like to see an all-female lineup on the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judging panel.

The choreographer, who was the show's only female judge for the first six series, has said that she’d like to see four women judging ‘Strictly’ in the future.

“There should be more women everywhere in my opinion," she said, adding: "There should be four women on the panel. Let's start with that one.”

Her comments come amidst rumours that Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly could be co-hosting ‘Strictly’ together when it returns to screens for a new series later this year, which, if it happens, will be the first time two women have ever co-presented a prime-time Saturday night show in the UK.

Until recently, 'Strictly' has been hosted by Sir Bruce Forsyth, but he announced earlier this month that he would be hanging up his dancing shoes and retiring as presenter of the show.

He will continue to host the Christmas and ‘Children In Need’ specials.

Arlene added that she supported the idea of two women fronting the show, but admitted that Brucie would take some following.

“It depends on who the two women are, and will it work? But why not women?" she said. “Bruce had it all because he could sing, he could dance, he was comedy and because he has that kind of legend behind him, I think he will be missed.

“Those are big dancing shoes to put somebody in, aren't they?
