Sue Perkins has admitted that she almost turned down the job of presenting 'The Great British Bake Off'.

The comedian - who is one half of duo Mel & Sue - has presented the hit baking show since it began in 2010, though she confessed in an interview on 'The Jonathan Ross Show' that she almost didn't take the job when it was offered to her.

She joked: "They said, 'Would you do it?’ and I said, ‘No, it’s about cakes, don’t be silly.'"

Sue went on to say she was pleased she had a change of heart, and described herself as "the luckiest person alive" thanks to her involvement with the show.

She also revealed that Mary Berry is a secret fan of 'The Jeremy Kyle Show', explaining: "She says, ‘This is extraordinary.'"

'The Jonathan Ross Show' airs on Saturday at 9.20pm.
