Inception Star Hardy In Line For Role Of Capone

PRESS ASSOCIATION -- Tom Hardy is said to be in talks to portray mob boss Al Capone on the big screen.

The Inception star is being considered by director David Yates for the lead role in an Al Capone origin story called Cicero, reported Vulture.

The biopic, which was originally written in the 1970s as a TV pilot by Walon Green, is now being re-adapted a film, and there is speculation that the story - which focuses on Capone's rise to power from the slums of Brooklyn to the top in prohibition-era Chicago - could be stretched out into further films.

Hardy, who has been filming The Dark Knight Rises, is also attached to star in the Mad Max reboot, titled Fury Road, which is scheduled to start filming in early 2012.

But sources have told Vulture that David plans to discuss the possibility of filming Cicero before the English actor has to head off for duty on Fury Road.

Next up for Hardy is mixed martial arts action flick Warrior, followed by Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy opposite Colin Firth and Gary Oldman.
