Tonight's TV Pick: Queen Victoria's Love Life, Beautiful Minds, The Apprentice

Queen Victoria’s Last Love – Channel 4, 9pm

Nowadays we’re inundated with intimate details of relationships of the rich and famous, but back in the days of Queen Victoria, the aristocracy could do pretty much what they liked behind the oak-panelled doors (see The Duchess, Mrs Brown, Dangerous Liaisons, Heat and Dust, etc etc, for proof)

We thought Queen Vic spent most of her life grieving for poor Albie, until Mrs Brown told us different. Now, this documentary charters her affections for Abdul Karim, a handsome 24-year-old from India. Karim started off serving at the Queen’s table, but soon became her secretary and close confidant.

As the Queen’s relations with her family became more fraught and the royal household hostile to Karim’s rise, the pair became dependent on one another and we can’t help but suspect a more... personal... relationship.

Beautiful Minds – BBC 4, 9pm

This fascinating series draws to a close with a focus on of Britain's best-known and controversial scientists, Richard Dawkins.

The documentary explores the man behind the controversy, and discovers how his debut book – The Selfish Gene – got its name.

The Apprentice – BBC 1, 9pm

Tune in to tonight’s episode for grumbles over grub. And we apologise in advance for the food puns. We’ve got a jam-packed preview so meaty you’ll have to click through to get it...
