So the World Cup is up and running, with Brazil already triumphant, and home fans waiting impatiently for England's first kick.

One rule of football continues to be a tantalising goal too far - a clear and simple understanding of the offside rule.

What we need is someone we trust to give a definitive explanation once and for all. Preferably a master of sport, communication and stepping over the ball on whom we can rely at such times.

Step forward, Mr Will.i.am.

The Black Eyed Peas star and secret soccer aficionado was asked by Capital Radio's breakfast team to explain the rule that has eluded some of football's finest brains.
