Simon Cowell promised plenty of changes before the latest series of ‘The X Factor’ launched earlier this year. And despite mixing up the panel and some elements of the format, one things remains the same as always - the music.

Despite the charts being packed full of contemporary hits, it’s still the dreary old songs that are being trotted out every week, which is doing nothing to help the series feel fresh.

Thus, we here at HuffPost UK have put together a list of songs that bosses really should consider banning as we draw ever closer to the live shows. After all, there is only so many versions of old Whitney classics we’re willing to put up with.

And while we’re all it, the producers are not much better when it comes to picking songs to put over auditions VTs and montages either, with a small pool of ditties used in constant rotation. So here’s another 30 to whack on that banned list, in no particular order:

  • One Direction - ‘Live While We’re Young’
  • Sugababes - ‘Here Come The Girls’
  • Daniel Merriweather - ‘Red’
  • Emeli Sande - ‘Beneath Your Beautiful’
  • Katrina And The Waves - ‘Walking On Sunshine’
  • Cheryl - ‘Crazy Stupid Love’
  • Mika - ‘Happy Ending’
  • Geri Halliwell - ‘Look At Me’
  • Leona Lewis - ‘Footprints In The Sand’
  • Paloma Faith - ‘Picking Up The Pieces’
  • Ellie Goulding - ‘The Writer’
  • Emeli Sande - ‘Read All About It’
  • Cyndi Lauper - ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’
  • Scissor Sisters - ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancing’
  • Union J - ‘Carry You’
  • Mika - ‘Grace Kelly’
  • Take That - ‘Greatest Day’
  • Beyoncé - ‘Halo’
  • Ella Henderson - ‘Ghost’
  • Katy Perry - ’Roar’
  • Amy Winehouse - ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’
  • Basement Jaxx - ‘Do Your Thing’
  • Mariah Carey - ‘Against All Odds’
  • Lily Allen - ‘Somewhere Only We Know’
  • Massive Attack - ‘Teardrop’
  • Dolly Parton - ‘9 To 5’
  • Eliza Doolittle - ‘Pack Up’
  • Katy Perry - ‘I Kissed A Girl’
  • Pink - ‘Raise Your Glass’

The 'Six Chair Challenge' has been a sticking point with 'X Factor' viewers since its debut in 2013. Many have branded the final stage of Bootcamp cruel, with some hopefuls gaining a place at Judges' Houses only to have to give it up later, but Simon Cowell clearly doesn't mind, as it's back for 2015.
