Baftas 2020: Quentin Tarantino Might Need To Work On His 'Gracious Loser' Face

Listen, we understand that for the nominees who don’t win, awards season must be a bit of a chore.

You’re flown all over the US – and, with the Baftas also part of the schedule, the world – just to hear over and over again that your performance isn’t the winning one, and that’s why it’s important to always have your “gracious loser face” ready.

Apparently, though, film director Quentin Tarantino did not get the memo.

During Sunday night’s Baftas, Quentin looked stony-faced pretty much throughout, but never more than when it was announced he hadn’t won.

Here, for example, is his reaction to learning that Sam Mendes had picked up Best Director…

...and here he is learning that Bong Joon-ho had picked up Best Original Screenplay for Parasite...

Meanwhile, this is the director when everyone in the audience had a little chuckle during Bong Joon-ho’s speech...

Seriously, Quentin – this year’s Oscars are looming, so we reckon it might be an idea to dust off even a half-smile ahead of the big night.

Quentin’s latest film, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, was nominated for an impressive 10 Baftas, making it one of the night’s top contenders.

However, the film ultimately won just one of the awards it was up for, with Brad Pitt receiving Best Supporting Actor.

Although he wasn’t there to collect the Bafta in person, he impressively still ended up stealing the show with his speech, which was read out on the night by his Once Upon A Time In Hollywood co-star Margot Robbie.
