‘Big Brother’ 2017: New ‘Best Of British’ Eye Revealed Ahead Of New Series

👀

The all-new ‘Big Brother’ eye has been revealed, ahead of the next series of the reality TV show.

The series launch date is yet to be confirmed - though we’re expecting it to be back on our screens in June - and ahead of the big day, bosses have unveiled a ‘Best of British’-themed logo.

Well... What do you think?

The statement accompanying the eye explains: “This summer, Big Brother presents a must-watch culture clash of modern Britain.

“At a time of political upheaval and tough questions about unity in the UK, Big Brother brings you an alternative look at Britain.

“The first taste is revealed today with the new Big Brother eye, formed from a multi-coloured Union Jack flag, featuring a patchwork of eclectic images representing modern Britain.”

It seems Channel 5 are making a concerted effort to return the show to its social experiment roots too, as they add that we should be ready “for a very British summer of contrasts, conflicts and collaboration...and more fireworks than you could imagine, as a selection of people, from a range of backgrounds, come together.”

Obviously, we’re expecting to see plenty of union jack-adorned furniture when the doors to the Borehamwood bungalow open.

As always, the identity of this year’s housemates will be kept top secret until the doors open, but we do know that producers have been recruiting for pairs of people to take part.

‘Bit On The Side’ will also be returning to Channel 5, with Rylan Clark at the helm once again.

How Many 'Big Brother' First Evictees Can You Name?

Sada has the unenviable honour of being the first contestant to ever be evicted from the 'Big Brother' house, in the show's very first series.

Among Penny's memorable moments were her rows with Stuart, her rehearsal for her eviction and accidentally dropping her towel on camera (which we're sure the pupils at the school she worked at were in no rush to let her forget).

The fourth series of 'Big Brother' is generally regarded as the year the show got really boring. Whether or not that's true, we think it could have escaped that rep had Anouska lasted in the house a little longer.

Kitten's eviction was actually added last minute, as a warning to the housemates about their frequent rule-breaking.

Non-practising white witch Mary was put up for eviction by Makosi as part of her 'secret mission'. Although Makosi claimed she did it because she thought it was what Mary wanted, that didn't stop her branding her housemate a 'snake in the grass' when she found out.

Bonnie Holt (2006)(07 of17)

Bonnie promised so much in her audition tape, but - eclipsed by huge characters like Pete, Shahbaz, Lea and Nikki - she was sadly barely noticed by viewers during her short time in the house.

Shabnam Paryani (2007)(08 of17)

Shabnam's eviction was particularly note-worthy, as she sang and danced for the crowd in an attempt to get them to stop booing.

It did not work.

Stephanie spent most of her time in the house unsuccessfully trying to tell her fellow housemates she was in a relationship with Mario.

In one of the cruelest 'BB' evictions ever, Beinzair was never granted full housemate status, and left the house via a red London bus, rather than getting to walk the runway.

When the show made the leap to Channel 5, Tashie was the first of the new crop of housemates to be evicted. She later made headlines when she was involved in a sex tape scandal.

After repeated rows with her younger housemates (who accused her of not being able to handle the 'banter' *eye roll), Victoria was voted out of the 'BB' house.

Sallie was nominated by fake housemate Michael in the first of the year's 'Secrets And Lies' twists, and was suitably unimpressed to find herself the first for the chop.

Tamara didn't last long in the 'BB: Power Trip' house, but she did manage to make it memorable, mostly thanks to her romance with Winston.

Simon Gross (2015)(16 of17)

Simon lasted mere hours in the 'BB' house, until the first 'Timebomb' of the series saw him getting the boot. He later reappeared as part of the 'four out, four in' twist.

His outrageous behaviour might have made him a talking point on the show, but it didn't make him any more popular, as he became the first male housemate to be booted out first by the public in 16 years of 'Big Brother'.
