Gypsy Wedding's Paddy Sentenced Today

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty is due to be sentenced after he got into a brutal fight with another traveller.

A mobile phone video camera captured Doherty, 52, trading punches with Johnny Joyce, 21, in a shopping centre car park.

Violence erupted after the warring parties came across each other seemingly by chance last June.

Doherty, a former bare knuckle boxer before finding fame on TV, and his cousin Joyce hurled blows at each other during the tussle which left the former bloodied.

Insults ware spat at Doherty along with encouragement urging Joyce on, with a voice believed to be that of Joyce's brother Douglas shouting: "Give it to him Johnny. Give it to him. Give it to the dirty drunk. Flatten that dirty tramp."

The footage played at Manchester Crown Court last month showed the brawl spilling from the car park outside the PC World shop in Ancoats, Manchester, and into the busy main road with cars swerving around the pair.

The clip ends with both men on the floor - where Joyce sunk his teeth into Doherty's ear.

Johnny Joyce admitted a single charge of affray on June 10 this year and his brother, Douglas Joyce, pleaded guilty to a public order offence of using threatening or insulting words or behaviour. The brothers, from Cherry Avenue, Manchester, will be sentenced on January 13.

My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding propelled Doherty to national celebrity status and he won Celebrity Big Brother last year.

Doherty, formerly of Duchy Road caravan park in Salford, pleaded guilty to affray last month. His sentencing was scheduled separately to keep the feuding factions apart.
