34-year-old South Korean business consultant Denis Carré took the festival by storm back in 2013, but you’d be forgiven for not recognising the name. That’s because he fooled practically everyone in Cannes into believing he was ‘Gangnam Style’ singer Psy. Denis blagged his way into exclusive A-list bashes and even cosied up for photos with celebs including Naomi Harris after dressing up as Psy. But his cover was blown by the man himself after he saw a picture of Fake Psy at the festival. "Seems like there's another ME at cannes," Psy tweeted, revealing he was working halfway across the world in Singapore. (credit:Twitter)

Danish director Lars Von Trier found himself banned from the festival following 2011’s event after he made some pretty awkward jokes about the Nazis. Speaking at the premiere of his film ‘Melancholia’, he announced “I’m a Nazi”, before adding that he “understands Hitler” after a reporter questioned his German roots. Understandably his comments sparked outrage and he was forced to apologise. (credit:VALERY HACHE via Getty Images)
