Celebville has certainly thrown some curveballs at us this year in terms of random relationships and unexpected hook-ups.

While many of 2014’s new pairings weren’t exactly hard to predict - Mollie King and David Gandy, we mean you - others have well and truly knocked us for six.

After Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow confirmed their split, who’d have expected the Coldplay singer to romance Jennifer Lawrence?

Then there’s Robert Pattinson, who’s found love with the Mercury Prize-nominated FKA Twigs .

And, of course, there were the celebrity weddings. While George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s swish Venice ceremony was well-documented, Cheryl Cole managed to wed her unknown boyfriend Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini in secret in July, while Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie slipped under the radar with their small ceremony in France.

Sadly, not all of the new couples have lasted and for some, the party’s already over.
