EastEnders bosses have unveiled details of a brand new “whodunnit?” storyline that is set to take centre stage this Christmas.

Ian Beale will be left for dead in a surprise attack over the festive period after making one too many enemies on Albert Square.

Having become the most hated man in Walford, one resident takes matters into their own hands and seeks revenge on the Queen Vic landlord in the pub.

The fallout of the attack will see Walford in turmoil throughout the festive season with many residents suspicious of dealing the brutal blow and desperate to cover their tracks.

Elsewhere, it’s set to be another unhappy Christmas for the Carter clan, as Mick and Linda are driven further apart, as Danny Dyer’s character’s traumatic past continues to haunt him.

While Linda feels more alone than ever, she seeks comfort elsewhere after months of temptation. Will Mick find the strength to open up about his demons before it’s too late?

Across the Square, Denise is preparing for her first Christmas with estranged son Raymond, but an unexpected blast from her past rattles her to her core.

While the identity of the mystery visitor remains unconfirmed, it was recently announced that Denise’s serial killer ex Lucas Johnson is set to return to Walford.

EastEnders bosses have also teased that this Christmas will also see love blossoming for an unlikely pairing, while another couple “faces new challenges as the festive season stirs up old feelings”.
