Ed Sheeran granted a teenage fan her dying wish this week, as he serenaded her shortly before she passed away.

Triona Priestly died of Cystic Fibrosis on Tuesday just minutes after her idol sang his song 'Little Bird' down the phone to her, with her brother claiming the star "sang her to sleep".

Ed's performance was a response to a Twitter campaign set up by fans using the hashtag #SongForTri, to encourage him to grant Triona's last wish of being serenaded by the singer.

"We would like to thank everyone who played their part in making that happen."

After learning that the teenager had died, Ed paid his last respects to her on his Twitter page, saying:
