'Game Of Thrones' Series 5 And 6 Confirmed By HBO Bosses

‘Game Of Thrones’ may have only just kicked off its fourth season, but fans of the show can rejoice in the fact that it’s now been commissioned for at least the next two years.

It’s been officially confirmed on the HBO fantasy show’s official Facebook page that a fifth and sixth series will be made.

The post read: "Raise a glass of Dornish wine. ‘Game of Thrones’ is renewed for Seasons 5 and 6.

"Send a raven and spread the word across the realm."

In other words: “Good news, that, innit?”

The fourth series of the show began over the weekend, and for the first time ever it was broadcast simultaneously in the US and the UK, with over half a million die-hard UK fans staying up till 2am to catch the season premiere on Sky Atlantic.

For those who couldn’t stay awake that long (no shame in that, we’ve usually had our cocoa and tucked ourselves in by 9.30…) it was repeated the following night at a more sociable hour.

Creators of the TV series - based on the popular novels by George R.R. Martin - told Entertainment Weekly last month that the team are currently planning to make seven seasons of 'Game Of Thrones'.

David Beinoff told the magazine: “It feels like this is the midpoint for us. If we’re going to go seven seasons, which is the plan, season 4 is right down the middle, the pivot point.

“Seven gods, seven kingdoms, seven seasons. It feels right to us.”

‘Game Of Thrones’ continues on Monday 14 April at 9pm on Sky Atlantic.
