Glastonbury may be months away, but fans hoping to get tickets to 2016’s event need to get themselves into gear, as the tickets for the annual festival go on sale on Sunday 4 October.

We were given a taster of what to expect on Sunday earlier this week, when a selection of coach packages sold out in record time on Sunday night.

With this in mind, it’s time to start planning, if you want to be amongst the 180,000 festival-goers who’ll head down to Worthy Farm next June.

Here are our top tips to make sure you’re in with a good chance of getting tickets…

1. Registration

The first hurdle is an easy one - if you’re not registered with Glastonbury, then you’re not getting in. It’s already too late to sign up as a new user, but fans who are hoping to bag tickets can check if their accounts are valid here. Not registered? You’ll need to wait until the April resale.

2. Preparation

Tickets will go on sale here at 9am sharp on Sunday, so grab a cup of tea and set your alarm. Have the website open early, and begin refreshing with a few minutes to go until 9am. Eventually, you’ll reach a page to buy tickets which is when you…

3. PASTE over your pre-typed details

Look, typing a 16 digit number under pressure is difficult, and unlike with other events, your tickets aren’t held as you take your sweet time checking the numbers over. Have your registration numbers and card number on a separate document, ready to paste across when the time comes.

4. Unsuccessful? There are still other options…

Don’t panic if tickets sell out. Glastonbury is a *huge* festival, and the April resale gives fan another chance to nab tickets. There are a number of ways to work at the festival, and Oxfam and Festaff both recruit volunteers for various roles nearer the time.

Glastonbury 2016: Potential Headliners
Foo Fighters(01 of12)

Dave Grohl and his band were forced to pull out of the festival in 2015, and Dave promised to make it up to fans - what better way to do it than to headline in 2016? Likelihood: 3.5/5. (credit:Barry Brecheisen/Invision/AP)
Foals(02 of12)

Following the release of 'What Went Down', Yannis Philippakis's band are bigger than ever, and it's definitely time for them to step up to the plate. Well, Pyramid. Florence Welch has already proven that you don't need to be a HUGE star to pull a giant crowd, and Arctic Monkeys have also had no problems in impressing the crowds while headlining. Likelihood: 4/5. Fleetwood Mac(03 of12)

Fans have been calling for the band to play the festival for years now and with Christine McVie back in the group, the time's never been better. Sadly, the rockers turned down Michael Eavis in 2015, choosing Isle Of Wight festival instead (and taking home a heap load of cash in the process). Likelihood: 3/5. (credit:Jim Ross/Invision/AP)
Rihanna(04 of12)

RiRi did have a huge Glastonbury-shaped gap in her 'Anti' world tour schedule - that was until she had to reschedule most of the UK dates, which seemingly rule her out of this year's festival. Likelihood: 1/5. (credit:Joel Ryan/AP)
Adele(05 of12)

Adele has staged the music comeback of the century, and while she's always been adamant that headlining Glastonbury isn't on her to-do list, the festival's booker has said they're in "final talks" with the star. Likelihood: 2.5/5. (Please do it, Adele. Thanks) (credit:ASSOCIATED PRESS)
Miley Cyrus(06 of12)

And you thought Kanye was a controversial choice, eh? According to reports, Miley could be making her Glastonbury debut, showcasing her latest 'Dead Petz' project with The Flaming Lips' frontman Wayne Coyne. Likelihood: To headline? 1/5. To appear at some point and twerk furiously? 4/5. (credit:Owen Sweeney/Invision/AP)
Kylie Minogue (07 of12)

Kylie was originally booked to headline in 2005, but was forced to cancel after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Having proved that she’s still got what it takes at her 2015 Hyde Park gig, we reckon it's time for her to play the set she never had the chance to.Likelihood: 2/5. (credit:Tim Edwards/WENN.com)
Daft Punk(08 of12)

The robotic duo would be the perfect Friday night act to whip the festival up into a frenzy ready for two more days of music. Glastonbury 2013 took place under a fog of (sadly untrue) rumours that the french stars would be staging a secret set, will 2016 be their year? Likelihood: 1.5/5. (credit:Zach Cordner/Invision/AP)
Taylor Swift(09 of12)

As her world domination continues, surely the next logical step for Queen Taylor is the Pyramid Stage?Likelihood: 2/5. (credit:KGC-138/STAR MAX/IPx)
The Faces(10 of12)

Rod and Ronnie briefly reunited in September 2015, and Rod later stated he'd get the band back together - but only if Glastonbury came calling. But are they suitable headliners? We're not so sure... Likelihood: 1/5. (credit:ASSOCIATED PRESS)
