'Learning to Drive', in cinemas now, is a feel-good, coming of (middle) age comedy about a mismatched pair who help each other overcome life’s road blocks.

Wendy (Patricia Clarkson) is a fiery Manhattan book critic whose husband has just left her for another woman; Darwan (Sir Ben Kingsley) is a softly-spoken taxi driver from India on the verge of an arranged marriage.

When Wendy hires Darwan to teach her to drive in a bid to reclaim her independence, her unravelling life and his calm restraint seem like an awkward fit but as he teaches her to take control of the wheel, their unlikely friendship awakens them to the possibility of starting a life anew.

To celebrate the film’s release, in cinemas now, we take a look at some of the biggest fails in the driving world, from disaster parking to the knocks some of us suffer along the road.

I can definitely fit in that space. Can’t I?
We’ve all been there. You’ve been looking for a parking space since forever and you finally cast your eye on a spot. I can definitely fit in there, you say to yourself. I’ve just got to do the dreaded parallel park.
Sorry, I thought that was the brake...
We’re not quite sure what this driver was thinking but they definitely must have got their brake and accelerator confused. Perhaps this driver should have left a note rather than the pause and drive away option they went for.
I can get a double decker bus through there.
This driver couldn’t have had it an easier. A nice big open space to drive through. They had one job!
Not enough space for both of us. No problem. I’ll just use the path
Impatient is an under-statement for this driver who clearly doesn’t play by the right of way laws. As this car drives towards them, the driver mounts the pavement and drives full speed ahead.
I’m just going to drive into this nice space here…
We’re not even sure what’s happening here but think this could be one of the biggest parking fails of all time. Watch as this driver takes out half the parking lot just trying to drive into the simplest of spaces.
I think it could be time to stop driving
His driving days might be behind him for this poor elderly driver who hit a total of nine cars in one parking lot.
The age-old... I forgot to put my handbrake on
Watch as this driver exits a car park in the worst way possible. By simply keeping his car in drive.
