Who's More Convincing - Meryl Or Julianne?

It's obviously the season for high-calibre actresses to turn their skills to impersonating real-life, ambitious, polarising, slightly right-wing politicians.

No sooner had Meryl Streep wowed us with her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, than Julianne Moore turns up in the guise of Sarah Palin, the Republican candidate selected by Senator John McCain to 'balance' his team during his fruitless run for the White House in 2008.

In Game Change, made by HBO, Julianne Moore channels the controversial Alaskan Governor as she makes her presence known on the podium during a highly-charged and increasingly personal election campaign. Read the official blurb from HBO below, and get a taster of Moore's performance in the trailer above... and Meryl Streep in action below...

Starring Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson and Ed Harris, HBO Films' Game Change follows John McCain's (Harris) 2008 presidential campaign, from his selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin (Moore) as his running mate to their ultimate defeat in the general election. Harrelson portrays Steve Schmidt, McCain's senior campaign strategist.

Based on the bestselling book Game Change by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, the film is directed by Jay Roach and written by Danny Strong, whose previous collaboration was HBO's Emmy Award winning film, Recount.

A Playtone Production in association with Everyman Pictures; executive producers, Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Jay Roach.

Game Change will be on screen in March 2012.
