Singer-songwriter Troye Sivan has criticised an interview he recently gave to a New Zealand publication over a “wildly invasive, strange and inappropriate” question he was asked about his sexual preference.
Fans picked up on the fact that the first five questions centred around the journalists’ own New Zealand accent and that they didn’t touch on Troye’s music in the interview.
However, when the singer shared the interview, it was clear he had an entirely different issue with it.

Referring to the final question, in which he was asked whether he was a “top or a bottom”, the singer wrote: “I thought about asking the interviewer about his absolute fave sex position after that last question, but then i remembered how wildly invasive, strange and inappropriate that would be. Didn’t stop him though!”
Troye added: “Next time I’ll just do a Twitter q&a.”
During the interview, Troye declined to answer the final question, saying simply: “Ooo… [I’m] definitely passing.”
Troye took issue with a similar question during a promotional interview for his second album Bloom last year.
In a video interview for BuzzFeed, Troye was asked to read out some extreme examples of “thirsty” tweets sent by his fans, including one which said: “I wish Troye Sivan could murder my ass but he’s already a bottom.”
In response to this, Troye said: “Not true, but whatever!”
