Harry Potter fans have left a magical tribute to Alan Rickman, who died yesterday aged 69.

Flowers have been spread across Platform 9 and 3/4, with messages to the actor who played professor Severus Snape in the series.

The memorial, at London King's Cross train station, surrounds the symbolic wall that the characters have to run through in order to journey to Hogwarts.

Rickman's death was confirmed on Thursday afternoon, with his family revealing that he had been suffering from cancer.

They said in a statement: "The actor and director Alan Rickman has died from cancer at the age of 69. He was surrounded by family and friends."
