Kevin Clifton Speaks Out On False Rumours: 'It's Horrible When You Feel As If The Press Are Going For You'

The former Strictly Come Dancing pro's relationship with Stacey Dooley has been the subject of many news stories.

Kevin Clifton has hit back at false news reports about him and girlfriend Stacey Dooley, insisting that they are actually “the most boring couple in the history of the world”.

The former Strictly Come Dancing professional’s relationship with the documentary presenter has been the subject of numerous tabloid reports since they got together after being paired up on – and subsequently winning – the show in 2018.

Kevin, who quit the BBC ballroom show earlier this year, has admitted he has found it difficult being the subject of false stories – especially in lockdown – but is now “getting good at ignoring it”.

Speaking to the Guardian, he said: “It’s horrible when you feel as if the press are going for you.

“If you read the tabloids, during this lockdown, Stacey has been pregnant, I’ve proposed to her, we’ve had big fights… It’s all been going down.”

“In reality, we are the most boring couple in the history of the world,” he continued. “I will be sitting here doing my Mamet masterclass and saying: ‘What do you think about consciousness?’ And Stacey does her work and then likes to sit and watch things like Selling Sunset on Netflix about estate agents in LA.

“We don’t even drink and there will be stories about drunken rages … We drink tea.”

He added: “I’m getting good at ignoring it.”

It’s not the first time Kevin has spoken out about false reports about him and Stacey in the press.

The dancer previously blasted tabloid claims she had encouraged his decision to quit Strictly so they could become a “TV power couple”.

He told This Morning: “It’s always the woman’s fault, like I’m incapable of making a decision.”

Stacey also tweeted: “Honestly, we knew this would happen. And so it starts, again...... Utter nonsense.”

She then added: “‘TV power couple’. Give. Me. A. Break. These articles are so, so embarrassing.”

Kevin announced he was leaving Strictly back in March, explaining he’d been offered his dream role in a new production of Strictly Ballroom The Musical.

However, the production has since been pushed back due to the coronavirus outbreak.
