Radio 1's Maya Jama Gives 'Hugh Janus' A Shout Out As She Falls For Listener Prank

Got it? Yep, well Maya didn’t.

It’s not big or clever, but you have to admit there is nothing funnier than a childish double entendre.

This is something Radio 1′s Maya Jama discovered (eventually) on Friday morning.

The presenter fell hook, line and sinker after one listener messaged into the station using the name “Hugh Janus” during her mid-morning show.

Got it? Yep, well Maya didn’t.

The DJ didn’t even flinch as she read out a message from “Hugh” that said: “Hugh Janus, your son or daughter loves you, they’ve said that. Very cute.”

And while Maya may not have spotted she was being pranked, many of her listeners did, with hilarity ensuing...

Maya – who clearly never watched The Simpsons as a kid – later admitted she’d been totally fooled, tweeting: “My first trick name blooper on Radio 1. He got me good.”

While we’ve be laughing at this for a while, we’re also still getting over the epic prank played on This Morning’s Holly Willoughby earlier this week for April Fool’s Day. Comedy gold.
