Strictly Come Dancing viewers have slammed “rude” professional dancer Anton Du Beke for talking over judge Shirley Ballas as she critiqued his partner Emma Barton

Things got a little heated between the pair during Saturday night’s live show, which saw Head Judge Shirley unimpressed at the EastEnders star’s Rumba with Anton.

Shirley started off by saying: “First of all, I want to say you’re tall, you’re elegant and you have everything it takes to do a beautiful Rumba before I say what I’m about to say...”

Interrupting, Anton said: “There’s no need for you to say any more - you’re welcome to say nothing else.”

Continuing to criticise their dance, Shirley continued: “I had absolutely no idea on what count you were dancing for this dance... There are four beats, there are three steps, you have to understand that.”

Anton interjected again, remarking: “Sometimes there are four steps and three beats”.

As Shirley went on, Anton continued to speak over her, saying: “Sometimes there are five steps and seven beats... sometimes there are no steps.”

Many remarked on the dancer’s unprofessional behaviour on Twitter...

The routine left Emma and Anton at the bottom of the leaderboard, with just 22 points.

After Emma revealed she had been watching old videos of Shirley performing the Rumba, Anton took a shot at Shirley over her scores, adding: “That’s the last time we YouTube Shirley.”

Elsewhere in the ballroom on Saturday night, it was Karim Zeroual who topped the leaderboard with 39 points, after kicking off the show with an impressive Quickstep.

Chris Ramsey was also the surprise of the evening, finishing joint second, alongside Michelle Visage and Kelvin Fletcher.

The comedian and partner Karen Hauer impressed with their Couple’s Choice Street/Commercial dance, set to Ant and Dec’s hit Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble, which picked up 34 points.
