Esther McVey’s Response To Lorraine Kelly’s Good Morning Britain Snub Is Delivered With A Smile And A Side Order Of Shade

It seems Esther's memory is a touch better than Lorraine's.

Just hours after Lorraine Kelly made her feelings very clear about her former GMTV colleague Esther McVey on Monday’s Good Morning Britain, the MP has responded with a smile... and a good helping of shade.

Lorraine insisted she couldn’t remember whether she got on with the ex-Work and Pensions Secretary during an awkward exchange with Piers Morgan in a live link up on GMB, which Esther was a guest on.

“Do you remember Esther McVey from your GMTV days?” Piers asked Lorraine.

“Yep. Yes I do,” replied Lorriane, before quickly moving on to introduce her upcoming guests and schedule.

But it didn’t stop there as Piers insisted: “So you got on with Esther, then, Lorraine?”

“I don’t remember love, I don’t remember at all,” Lorraine replied, somewhat unconvincingly.

Hours later, the Tory leadership hopeful was quizzed about her working relationship with Lorraine at a press conference.

“What went on with you and Lorraine Kelly?” ITV’s political correspondent Paul Brand asked.

Cue awkward laughter from Esther and this response:

“Well we used to share a dressing room and she used to do the programme afterwards and obviously she used to be partnered with Eamonn Holmes and then I was promoted to be partnered with Eamonn Holmes,” she explained.

Ouch.

She continued: “But she’s great and it was a great show. I can’t believe it. I think it was 20 years ago I did that show, but never mind. It was really good at the time. It was really good fun.”

So they shared a dressing room but Lorraine can’t remember if they got on? Okaaaay.

Before launching her political career, Esther was a TV presenter, hosting GMTV alongside Eamonn Holmes. She is currently in the race to succeed Theresa May as Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, Lorraine recently won a £1.2 million tax battle with HMRC, after a tribunal judge ruled she does not appear as herself on breakfast TV.

While we all know the Scottish star as the friendly face who helps wake us up with her beaming smile and chatty presenting style, Judge Jennifer Dean claimed Lorraine can be described as a “theatrical artist”, as she “presents herself as a brand”.

Or as one Twitter user put it:
