The first photos of Richard E Grant in character in the upcoming film version of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie have been revealed and… it’s a total serve, to be honest.

A big-screen version of the hit West End musical was confirmed to be in the works last year, with the Oscar-nominated actor taking on the role of drag queen Loco Chanelle, who serves as a mentor to the titular character.

On Friday, production company Film 4 debuted the first photos of Richard in drag, and we’re happy to report, he looks all kinds of fabulous.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie debuted in the West End in 2017, based on the BBC Three documentary, Jamie: Drag Queen At 16, a teenager who wanted to attend his school prom in drag.

The production received critical acclaim, including nominations for Best New Musical, Best Actor In A Musical and Outstanding Achievement In Music at the Oliviers, although Hamilton ended up sweeping the board that year.

Fresh from his appearances in Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker and his Oscar-nominated turn in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Richard will star in the film version of the musical opposite Sarah Lancashire and Sharon Horgan, who will play teacher Miss Hedge and Jamie’s mum, Margaret New, respectively.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie marks Sarah’s biggest silver-screen role to date, having appeared in Yesterday and the film adaptation of Dad’s Army in recent years.

Former Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati is also among the cast, reprising her role from the West End, while newcomer Max Harwood will take on the lead role of Jamie New.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is slated for release on 23 October.
