Ariana Grande Accuses Grammys Boss Of 'Lying' About Her After Pulled Performance

She claims to have been "creatively stifled" by the awards show.

Ariana Grande has accused Grammy Awards boss Ken Ehrlich of lying about the reasons behind her cancelled performance.

The singer was in talks to perform at Sunday night’s ceremony, but it was revealed earlier this week that she had pulled out, with Ken later going on record to speak about the matter.

He had claimed Ariana “felt it was too late for her to pull something together” – however, she has now contested his version of events.

The star has said her “creativity and self expression was stifled” by the producers, despite her offering up three songs to perform.

Posting a screengrab of Ken’s comments on Twitter, she wrote: “mhmmm here it is ! ‘too late for her to pull something together……’

“i’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me. i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken. it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”

She continued: “i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported. it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me. (sic)”

Ariana is nominated for two awards at the Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Performance on single God Is a Woman and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener.

Performers at the ceremony include Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Diana Ross.

While Ariana will not be among them, she has said she is still “grateful” for her nominations.

She tweeted: “passed a Grammy’s bus with my face on it typing those.

“hope that helps everyone understand my decision. i am still grateful for the acknowledgement this year. (sic)”

It was originally reported Ariana had decided to pull out of performing after bosses refused to let her sing current single 7 Rings.

The row comes as Ariana released her fifth studio album Thank U, Next on Friday – just six months after her last release, Sweetener.

HuffPost UK has contacted a representative for Ken Ehrlich for comment, and is awaiting a response.
